2024-2025 Academic Calendar
The Registrar's Office at Stanford manages the academic calendar which has been published for the 2024-25 academic year. Below are the posted quarterly dates for the upcoming academic year; all dates are subject to change at the discretion of the University. For those looking to schedule travel throughout the year, we strongly encourage you to wait until your student has their course and exam schedule and they have reviewed the course syllabi before making plans.
2024-25 Academic Year Calendar
First Day of Classes and End of Term
- Autumn Quarter: Monday, September 23, 2024 and December 13, 2024
- New students move in on Tuesday, September 17 (tentative). Housing will remain open during the Fall/Thanksgiving Break. Housing closes on Saturday, December 14, for the Winter Break. All students must leave their dorm rooms during this break.
- Winter Quarter: January 6, 2025 and March 21, 2025
- Housing re-opens for Winter Quarter on Saturday, January 5, 2025. Housing will remain open during Spring Break.
- Spring Quarter: March 31, 2025 and June 11, 2025 (Commencement June 15)
- Housing closes for the academic year on Friday, June 13, 2025. All students must move out of their housing unless approved for extended stay or summer housing.
- Summer Quarter: June 23, 2025 and August 16, 2025 (optional quarter)
- Students who register for summer housing may choose an 8-week or 10-week summer contract. Summer housing applications will open in Spring Quarter.
